IF IN DOUBT.. AN ANAESTHETIST’S STORY
I started writing this book as a memoir of my career as an anaesthetist just before I retired a year ago. From school, medical school to training in the specialty, there are chapters on training, mistakes, ethical issues in the Intensive Care Unit, dealing with family members who were ill, dealing with major trauma and voluntary cleft lip and palate work, three times in Ecuador and in the Philippines. Real but anonymised patients’ stories are described. I hope readers will find it interesting and give them a glimpse into the hidden world of the anaesthetist. Any royalties from the book, as with Manx Murders, will be donated to the NSPCC charity.
